(whatever this might be), he was fine, this was for sure. Some time later Liz tried again.

“Maybe we should drive on and look for better quarters.”

“We have good quarters. It's nice there, it's a good place to be and it is a very pleasant contrast to all those motors and cars.”

As if he had ever wanted diversion from cars! The whole situation became more and more dubious.

After some hours of looking at cars they drove back. On their way back the sun sank deeper and deeper, the shadows grew longer and longer and the whole scenery was eerie. Another good term. Eerie and surreal. In her private life she had never cast too many thoughts on terms like these, but now their deeper meaning became more and more clear. There are situations in which words display their real meaning.

Frank had parked the car on another place. He said it was the rule not to cover too much of the ground for a longer period of time, they should not interfere with nature.

Frank wasted thoughts on the ground he placed his car on? Okay.

Not okay, a little voice in her head told her that this must have a deeper meaning.

Liz looked at her friend. He was as tall as ever, his blonde hair was a bit untidy, his eyes had an absent look... this was not Frank on holidays.

They drove. The wood seemed to be endless. Miles and miles nothing but this unhealthy green and those ugly trees. Half an hour later they reached the show. It was nice there. Pasture land, surrounded by trees. The clandestine thought to use the motor show as a way to go back to normality was erased in seconds. There was no way out, Liz was caught, in the middle of nowhere, strictly speaking, she was completely trapped.

The day at the show was as strange as the last days had been. Frank at a show without his friends. It seemed as if they were prohibited to go there as a group. Liz had asked for the friends for several times, but got nothing but jokes as an answer. Yes, she liked to be alone with him, but to be alone with him in the place where he used to play with the boys was surreal. Surreal was the right and most fitting term. Everything was surreal. The trees did not look like trees, those people did not look like real human beings, their eyes were completely empty. On every other occasion she would have had fun with this fact, joking about or on?  incest was one of her greatest delights. But her sense of humour had left her. She was puzzled, alarmed and did not know what to do.

Frank was stubborn, he was a stubborn person, but now his attitude was hardly bearable. Liz had told him that she would like to have a look for a decent hotel or inn. He had not commented her idea, he had said nothing at all. He was pleased with his situation, he had what he wanted
